between us when we left the boat
beautiful moon rise - nights were
clear & warm - slept on deck once

the morning were last to get off
rain & mud - dark before we
arrived at bivouac area - streets
and houses looked like movie set
carried packs & duffle bags thru mud
Cox took spill. - put up tent just
before big down pour.  Morning ??Varreeville??
found us in small field - hedgerows
apple orchards - farms - mail
walked 2 mi for first shower in several
weeks.  Washed clothes in creek
visited French families - interesting
to note their living conditions - took
lots of pictures.  red cross donuts & coffee
routine very light - drill inspection

Barneville next area - Jersey Is. in sight
occupied by Germans - much rain
Bob & I had best pup tent in Co.
dug in and built up rain & wind proof
